		<description>I ended up not having the surgery (see http://sesamoidsurgery.com/2010/11/28/long-overdue-update/ for the details on why). That was 5 years ago, and in my case, it was the right thing to do. I continue to wear orthodics when possible, but when I don&#039;t (in dress shoes or sandals), I don&#039;t have any pain. If I press directly on it it&#039;s still tender, but it doesn&#039;t impact anything I do in my daily life (including running, push-ups, and surfing, all of which put pressure on it)</description>
