By this time on March 22nd I’ll have one less bone in my left foot. And I couldn’t be more excited! If all goes well then my doctor says that within 3 months I’ll be able to run without pain for the first time in nearly 4 years. After reading online how others have recovered from a sesamoidectomy, I’ve decide to start this blog to document my (hopeful) recovery from the procedure. In the days leading up to the surgery, I’ll provide insight into how I was injured, how I’ve dealt with it, and why I decided to have the surgery.
I have been in pain and finally decided to do the surgery and wanted to ask u how it went and how has the recovery been ?
I ended up not having the surgery (see http://sesamoidsurgery.com/2010/11/28/long-overdue-update/ for the details on why). That was 5 years ago, and in my case, it was the right thing to do. I continue to wear orthodics when possible, but when I don’t (in dress shoes or sandals), I don’t have any pain. If I press directly on it it’s still tender, but it doesn’t impact anything I do in my daily life (including running, push-ups, and surfing, all of which put pressure on it)
